Manfred “stopped short of threatening the Brewers would leave town if a funding strategy can’t be negotiated.” He said, “It’s really important that the existing obligation in the lease be funded so that this great ballpark is maintained on a regular basis.” Manfred’s visit transpired a few weeks before the Wisconsin Legislature “reconvenes to hammer out the state budget.” The lease between the district and the Brewers “runs through the end of 2030.” With new state funding, the Brewers stated that the team's lease with the district "would be extended until the end of 2043.” The Brewers and Wisconsin Department of Administration “determined through separate commissioned reviews that it would cost” $428M to maintain the ballpark.
